An all-too-common reality for migrant workers is the risk that they will be asked—even coerced—to sign multiple contracts outlining different terms of employment. Unscrupulous recruiters make false promises to prospective migrants, convincing them to agree to terms that may not match the actual job to which they will be assigned.
There are too many cases in which migrant workers have been coerced into signing contracts written in a language they cannot understand, binding them to terms that are not in their favour, and that even result in undocumented immigration status when the terms of the contract or work arrangement do not match those used to acquire their work visa.
With little access to legal redress and often in debt to their recruiters, migrant workers have little recourse when contract substitution occurs.
NO WORKER SHOULD BE COERCED TO ACCEPT DECEPTIVE TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT. END CONTRACT SUBSTITUTION! #RecruitmentReform #NoContractSubstitution
